Artist Talk with Katja Strunz und Marcel Odenbach

Ernst von Siemens-Auditorium in the Pinakothek der Moderne

Thursday, 14 October, at 6:30 PM

In the exhibition, Au rendez-vous des amis, Classical Modernism and contemporary art from the Sammlung Goetz engage in an exciting dialogue. With its multitude of revolutions and new artistic styles, as well as its liberal approach to color, line and space, Classical Modernism has been an important source of inspiration for subsequent generations of artists.

What led to this exploration of Modernism’s legacy; how is this history manifested in the later artists’ works; and what remains of Modernism’s reformist utopian lifestyles today? In a discussion with the artists Katja Strunz (*1970) and Marcel Odenbach (*1953)—whose works are presented in the show—the curators Oliver Kase and Karsten Löckemann wish to continue this dialogue in real time.
