Open windows during the Advent season!
The Sammlung Goetz is exhibiting part of its media art collection online.
On each of the four weekends before Christmas, the Sammlung Goetz will present a film from its media art collection on the homepage of its website. The first film, Jochen Kuhn’s Sonntag 3 (2012), will be uploaded on Saturday, 28 November 2020. In the film, the narrator searches for a new partner via the internet dating agency, heart pacemaker. After exchanging a multitude of anonymous messages, he finally meets a woman in the Gran Café; to his amazement, his blind date is the Chancellor!
Jochen Kuhn portrays the encounter in a psychologically sensitive manner, yet with wit and irony. The film’s plot initially develops slowly but quickly turns dramatic. Kuhn paints, glues, collages, blurs and paints over the contents of the individual film sequences, contrasting the gestural expressive imagery with the sober tone of his narrative voice. The film is akin to an inner monologue the author conducts with himself.
