New Year’s Eve Special – Works from the media art collection

To usher in the new year, the forty-minute musical film by Laurie Simmons The Music of Regret (2005/2006) will be on view on the homepage of the Sammlung Goetz website. The work explores our laments related to wrong decisions, lost loves and missed opportunities. Part of the film focuses on the actress Meryl Streep, who reminisces about past lovers. The film has a new topicality today, a time when we are unable to realize so many of our plans and find ourselves longing for the past. Despite its melancholy mood, The Music of Regret warns us not to waste too much time thinking about what could have been and brooding over wrong decisions; instead, we should look confidently into the future. In this optimistic spirit, we wish you all the best for the new year!
