Open windows during the Advent season!

The Sammlung Goetz is exhibiting part of its media art collection online.

On each of the four weekends before Christmas, the Sammlung Goetz is presenting a film from its media art collection on its website’s homepage.

On the second weekend of Advent, viewers can look forward to a 1920s-style revue or chorus line, which Rosemarie Trockel choreographed using processionary moth caterpillars. In it, the insects crawl over an azure-colored background moving to the music of Kurt Hoffmann and in ever new formations. The artist takes advantage of the insects’ natural practice of forming lengthy processions at night in their search for food and lets the creatures perform little tricks in her video. Parade (1993) is not a nature film, however, because Trockel created an abstract work by using reflections and superimposed scenes.

This somewhat unusual animal film can be seen on Saturday, 5 December 2020 and on Sunday, 6 December 2020 on the homepage of our website.  Thereafter, it will be available for viewing until the end of 2020 on our website at Sammlung Goetz Digital.
