Rodney Graham Screening Special

Higlights from the media art collection

Viewers are faced with a challenge when they encounter the work of Canadian artist Rodney Graham, whose supposed light, humorous and aesthetically pleasing oeuvre contains various references to literature, music, art history and philosophy. Graham came relatively late to the visual arts and has constantly scrutinized his role as an artist. In addition to photographic self-reflection, he has explored work as a songwriter, screenwriter, filmmaker and actor. He is an amateur in the best sense of the word, because he pursues these things out of passion.

In his short film City Self / Country Self (2000), which takes us back to Paris of the 1860s, Graham plays the role of both protagonists. The Sammlung Goetz presents this wonderful socio-psychological farce in its Screening Special on the second weekend in October (9 and 10.10.2021).
