Antiracist curating

Workshop talk with Dr. Jungmin Son in the context of the exhibition (Not) A Doll's House. Traditional Roles and Brand-New Images(in English)

In 2021, theater scholar Jungmin Son curated the exhibition "Puppetry's Racial Reckoning" at the Ballard Institute and Museum at the University of Connecticut (UConn). In particular, she addressed anti-Asian racism and found ways to counter racist stereotypes with other exhibits that contribute to the empowerment of the affected communities. She will talk about her work and will be available for discussion.

Dr. Jungmin Song is an assistant professor in the Department of Dramatic Arts and a research associate at the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry. She curated the exhibitions "Shakespeare and Puppetry" (2020) and "Puppetry's Racial Reckoning" (2021) at the Ballard. She has published in Performance Research, Theatre Journal, Contemporary Theatre Review and Asian Theatre Journal and edited a special issue of Puppet Notebook on Shakespeare and puppetry.
