Film screening with Artits Talk

In 2017, the Berlin composer Moritz Gagern wrote Nigunim for the JCOM (Jewish Chamber Orchestra Munich), a Jewish wedding composed out, processing melodies that go back to the origins of Jewish klezmer music in Eastern Europe. Commissioned by the Sammlung Goetz, the video artist Christoph Brech created a film to accompany it, which on the one hand draws on various traditions from the silent film era, but on the other hand also makes the production process visible.

In the context of the exhibition (Not) A Doll’s House. Traditional Roles and Brand-New Images at the Münchner Stadtmuseum, a screening of the film Nigunim (2022) will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023, at the Filmmuseum. Afterwards, artist Christoph Brech and JCOM director Daniel Grossmann will talk about the joint project.
